CNN Hero of the Year is getting a GroupCard

November 25, 2009

Efren “Kuya Ef” Peñaflorida grew up threatened and harrassed by ganges in his school in Cavite City.    But by the time he was only 16 he created the Dynamic Teen Company – which now has over 10k members.  This year Efren was named CNN Hero of the Year for all he did as an advocate of Filipino out-of-school youth.

Today, I was proud to discover that Efren’s supporters have started a GroupCard Congratulations Card for him!  The card has been signed by  hundreds of admirers and thankful signers around the world.

It’s always fun to do a monthly round-up and proclaim a record, even before the month is over!

It’s true, GroupCard had a really sizable month in terms of all metrics… including revenue, cards, users, and pageviews…     Thanks to all our loyal users, and please keep in touch if there’s anything you think we should do to make November a record!

A teeny mention in TechCrunch

August 27, 2009

A fellow fbfund REV friend pointed out to me today that GroupCard got a little mention in TechCrunch today, tied to our participation in the Facebook Payments Beta…

“….to interact with a select number of third-party applications such as GroupCard and SocialCalendar”

August 25, 2009

This just in from a happy customer who started a retirement card for a colleague  at her medical office….

“She called me today about the book of group card messages she received in the mail. She says it is BEAUTIFUL…excellent quality printing and paper and a very nice cover. To quote her, “I am not a keeper, but this is defintely something I WILL keep. It really brought a tear to my eye!”

So thank you SO much. This was a perfect gift for her retirement….You have a great product!

Cool companies on GroupCard today

August 24, 2009

I was just browsing through our user database today and was blown away by all the neat aliases that are showing up…. I’m seeing teams from GM, P&G, GE, Quest, Accenture, Cisco, 3M, WAMU, BP, and more – all signing cards within the last three hours!  It’s exciting that GroupCard truly is taking over as the best way to send an office greeting card.

If you and your company team are interested in creating a special GroupCard template for your office, just email us at feedback@groupcard.com and we’d be happy to help set up somthing.

Cool Mention in Geek Sugar

July 30, 2009

Reiko (our Product/Marketing rockstar) just found this cool writeup about GroupCard in Geek Sugar, a popular womans blog.   The article is great, and i am just amazed by the followup comments about people using groupcard as a card for the office- I swear that none of us from GroupCard  seeded those!

There’s no physical passing around, first of all — it’s an electronic pass-around that’s accomplished by just emailing the card to the people who need to sign it. You then send the e-card (who cherishes greeting cards from co-workers these days anyway?) to the recipient, and wish her well.”

Here’s the article

…and here’s the cool comments…

We used this today at my job for one of our co workers that is going off to college and it’s GREAT. Thanks

I believe Elfster is also doing group birthday cards now, in addition to secret gift exchanges like Secret Santa.

I started work at my office last August so for my birthday this May my card was fabulous, filled with true sentiments about how I’d changed the office. Some people still appreciate real cards and letters instead of emails.

GroupCard cephalopod confusion :-)

July 25, 2009

I just shared a hillarious thread with an old-time GroupCard, er.. SquidNote…  user..   some of you other old timers will get a kick out of it…

gracias… I always enjoy checking out your new bells and whistles.
BTW, Adriana asked how long we’d been using GroupCard…
Me: “A few years now, since you were “Octopus Card.”
Adriana: (slight pause) “You mean Squid Note?”
Me: (slight pause) “Octopus, squid, same difference. Lots of legs.”
Thanks… we enjoy using your site!

GroupCard June 2009 wrapup…

July 22, 2009

Led by a seasonal surge in fathers’ day and graduation, GroupCard finished the month with record visitors, record organic cards, and record revenues.   Likewise, our full Q2 showed record #’s.

The team has been busy at work, mostly working from our “Facebook REV“ outpost in Palo Alto, California.   We’ve sped up the site and we’ve added tons of product enhancements including premium membersips which enable larger photos and unlimited photos.

As always, the most rewarding part of our job is hearing the stories behind each card.  We’ve heard from hundreds of people this month who sent or recieved meaningful cards from family, office coworkers, friends, and more.  Here’s some of this month’s feedback:

I love Groupcard, and I love this card even better. I feel like the format is really nice and very easy to use. I feel in love with GroupCard when I sent my first card. Thanks for such a innovative way to share your feelings.

I think Groupcard is a unique way to express ourselves in a collective manner. I just love this!

I think that GroupCard is just a great system because you can send cards to your loved ones for free. I think it’s just wonderful how I can send cards to my friends and everything. Thank you so much for creating GroupCard.
Thanks for the card too!

You can’t improve – this service is fantastic – and free! I really can’t ask for more. I loved your little Miss you note – and guess what: I’m sending another group card today :-)
